DELAWARE COUNTY FAIR – CORNELL COOPERATIVE EXTENSION HUMAN ECOLOGY PROGRAM EXHIBITS AND INFORMATION – AUGUST 13-18, 2012 – WALTON FAIRGROUNDS
08/09/2012 - This year Cornell Cooperative Extension's Human Ecology exhibit in the Cooperative Extension building will feature a display called Growing Food, Growing Healthy Through Gardening with pictures of CCE's People's School Garden Project. Learn how to grow food organically, participate in local foods and exhibitor demonstrations, play games for little sprouts (children) and see the quilt display.
The CCE will be hosting a variety of educational exhibits which will be in place throughout the week, and judged in competition on Tuesday. Learn about NYSERDA Green Jobs–Green New York at Rural Ulster Preservation Company's exhibit. Join Hanford Mills to learn about the history of water power in Delaware County. A Quilt of Many Colors will feature information about quilting while Delaware County Public Health will present information on Baby and Me becoming smoke free. Learn about FEMA disaster recovery after Hurricane Irene from Project Hope. Don't miss Byebrook Farm's exhibit about cheese making!
Stop by the Cooperative Extension building each day from 1:00-3:00 p.m. to check out our daily demonstrations. We begin demonstrations on Monday with Hanford Mills who will make water wheels. Tuesday Morning Rippers will give a quilting demonstration on Tuesday. Join us on Wednesday for a demonstration with Public Health Nursing on Baby and Me Smoke Free. On Thursday there will be cheese tasting with Byebrook Farm. To find out about yoga, visit with 4 County Yoga Connections on Friday. On Saturday come learn about quilting table runners with Polly DellaCrosse. Another fun treat for children and families will be the cooking and local food recipe demonstrations done by the CCE nutrition educators daily from 4:00-5:00 p.m. Cornell Cooperative Extension staff will demonstrate the following vegetables and feature current Eat 3 and Choose Health recipes, My Plate recommendations and information that are part of youth and adult nutrition education programs.

Wednesday – Tasty Tomato Sauces and Salsas
Thursday – Serve Them Often: Storing and Preparing Sweet Potatoes

Saturday – Broccoli Is the Best: Freeze and Make It Simply Delicious
Youth can also enjoy children's games and activities in the morning and evening each day during fair week. CCE will be accepting bids for quilted projects, donations for gift baskets and a wheel barrow donated by Brandow's Feed & Seed to support Relay for Life and healthy snacks for youth participating in nutrition education lessons through out the year.
