10/04/2018 - Funding is now available from the Ashokan Watershed Stream Management Program (AWSMP) for stream management projects in the Ashokan Reservoir watershed. The deadline for application is Oct. 19.
Not-for-profit organizations and governmental units may apply for project funding in the categories of planning, education, stream-related infrastructure improvements, flood hazard mitigation, stream restoration, and research. For-profit corporations are only eligible to apply in the research category.
Funding is provided to implement priority recommendations in the AWSMP Action Plan, stream management plans, and flood hazard mitigation plans developed by AWSMP, local governments, and other partners. The highest priority projects demonstrate a public benefit and are feasible and cost-effective.
The AWSMP has awarded $4.4 million for 87 stream projects in the Ashokan Watershed since 2010.
Stream management funds are provided by the New York City Department of Environmental Protection and administered by Cornell Cooperative Extension of Ulster County (CCEUC). CCEUC supports project implementation in collaboration with the Ulster County Soil and Water Conservation District.
