10/04/2018 - The Business Association of Margaretville (BAM) will host a Touch A Truck Family Fall Festival on Friday, Oct. 5 from 4-7 p.m.
Part of BAM's First Friday events, Touch A Truck is fun for all ages — but especially for kids who are welcome to trucks of all shapes and sizes up close and get a firsthand experience by climbing on the trucks and hearing about how they work.
The 20-plus vehicles on display will include fire trucks, an MTC bucket truck, NYS Police cars, NYC vehicles owned by the Department of Environmental Protection and the State Department of Environmental Conservation, Wadler Bros. concrete trucks, construction vehicles from Hubbells, a wrecker and roll-back tow truck, a fuel truck, an Ulster County Sheriff's Department patrol car, tractors, farm equipment and more.
The vehicles will be lined up along a portion of Margaretville's Main Street and also in the Binnekill Square community parking lot. The event is a fund-raiser for BAM and there's a suggested donation of $5 per family. Adults are also welcome to explore the vehicles.
Other entertainment at the festival will include: live music by Country Express, face painting, kids' crafts and a chocolate tasting at Catskill Candies and Confections.
Trattoria Locale, Binnekill Tavern and the Margaretville Methodist Church will offer featured food for the event. Visitors are also invited to check out the growing number of shops in the village.
The Touch A Truck Family Fall Festival is BAM's final First Friday event of the season. BAM members are also busy planning for the annual Holiday on Main event on Saturday, November 24. The fun starts with a parade along Main Street at 11 a.m., a visit by Santa, hot chocolate, kids' activities, eggnog tasting, tree lighting, chocolate tasting and more. Holiday on Main is held in conjunction with Shop Small Saturday.
