Delgado Joins Sixth Annual Delaware County Senior Fun Day

08/29/2019 - Representative Antonio Delgado (NY-19) joined the Sixth Annual Delaware County Senior Fun Day in Delhi hosted by the Delaware County Office for the Aging, Delaware Opportunities Inc, and the Delaware County Senior Council Wednesday, Aug. 21. During his visit, Congressman Delgado met with seniors, served lunch with the organizers, and delivered remarks honoring the service of Wayne Shepard, who officially retired from his role as Director of Delaware County's Office of the Aging. Rep. Delgado presented Mr. Shepard with a Congressional Certificate in recognition of his invaluable service to the community.
"Truly enjoyed spending time with the Delaware County community today at the sixth annual Senior Fun Day. Today's event was all the more special in light of the opportunity to recognize the individual who started Senior Fun Day, Mr. Wayne Shepard, who officially retired today after his years of service as Director of Delaware County's Office of the Aging." Rep. Delgado continued, "I was proud to join in paying tribute to Mr. Shepard's career and thank the organizers, including Mr. Shepard, for their work to coordinate today's event."
This week, Rep. Delgado is focused on the needs of seniors and priorities of older Americans in New York's 19th District. On Monday, the Congressman delivered meals with Meals on Wheels of Greater Hyde Park, and visited Windham Ashland Jewett Prattsville Lexington (WAJPL) Golden Age Club. On Tuesday, the Congressman met with leadership from Ulster Savings Bank to discuss their work to increase financial literacy for both young and old and their work to combat ID theft and fraud, which often targets seniors. On Tuesday evening, Congressman Delgado held his 22nd town hall in the district at the Deposit State Theater in Broome County.
