Delaware County 4-H Hosts 17th Annual Golf Tournament - Tee It Up for Kids


08/02/2018 - The 17th annual 4-H Golf Tournament tees off on Friday, September 14th at the Delhi College Golf Course. Proceeds generated by the tournament will support youth development activities in Delaware County.

Registration begins at 8 a.m. The four person captain and crew with a shotgun start will begin at 9 a.m. The $60 entry fee includes 18 holes of golf with a cart and an awards luncheon following the tournament. There will be prizes awarded for Longest Drive Men's & Women's; Closest to the Pin Mens & Womens; team prizes for first, second, third place and much more.

"Cornell Cooperative Extension of Delaware County is grateful for the continuous support of our sponsors in making this event successful every year," said Jeanne Darling, Executive Director. "We couldn't have the tournament without the support of our sponsors." The 4-H Program is the youth development program of Cornell Cooperative Extension in Delaware County which links the resource of Cornell University to young people. Funding is primarily directed to program initiatives.

Sponsors for the tournament are needed. Levels of sponsorship are: patron $340 (full page ad in program, sign on green, free foursome), Green $100 (sign at green, name in program), Cart $50 (sign on cart, name in program), Individual $25 (name in program) and team prizes and door prizes are always welcome! All sponsors will be listed in our press releases and on our website.

4-H is the nation's largest out of school youth development organization, grows confident young people who are empowered for life today and prepared for career tomorrow. 4-H programs empower nearly 6 million young people across the U.S. through experiences that develop critical life skills. 4-H is the youth development programs of our nation's Cooperative Extension System and USDA, and serves every county and parish in the U.S. through a network of 110 public universities and more than 3000 local Extension offices. The research –backed 4-H experience grows young people who are 4 times more likely to contribute to their communities; 2 times more likely to make healthier choices; 2 times more likely to be civically active; and 2 times more likely to participate in STEM programs.

In Delaware County we offer: local individual or club 4-H membership, showing at county and state fair, public speaking, community service projects, NYS STEM Camp, 4-H Camp Shankitunk-open to ALL youth, Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program (EFNEP)/Eat Smart New York nutrition education programs for community and school youth groups.

Plan a day with a team of family/friends and enjoy the fall foliage at the Delhi College Golf Course while supporting our youth in Delaware County.
