02/03/2012 - The Delaware County Historical Association, in collaboration with the Cannon Free Library in Delhi, continues its series of showing local films that focus on our region's rich history.
On Thursday evening, February 9 at 6pm a double feature will be offered. The first film will be "Trifles," followed afterwards by "400 – 4-Cylinder 400." "Trifles" is a short film based on the story, "A Jury of Her Peers," by Susan Glaspell. The film was mostly shot inside the Gideon Frisbee House in Delhi. The story is seen as an example of early feminist literature because two female characters are able to solve a mystery that the male characters cannot - aided by their knowledge of women's psychology.
"4-Cylinder 400" is an outstanding documentary short about the Annual Barnyard Car Race (AKA the "4-Cylinder 400") that took place in Bovina Center. The documentary features the 5th annual installment of the event and the characters that attend and participate in the competition. There's lots of beer, swearing, mud and, of course, cheap, crappy cars.
Additional films will be shown at the Cannon Library on Elm Street on the second Thursday of each month continuing through the spring. Admission to this and the other films to be shown is free. Donations gratefully accepted!
