WCCRC to Hold Hearing on Block Grant March 14

03/09/2012 - Western Catskills Community Revitalization Council, Inc. (WCCRC) is pleased to announce that the Town of Jefferson will be submitting an application for Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Owner Occupied Housing Rehab Grant funds to the Office of Community Renewal for owner-occupied housing rehab in April, 2012. This grant application will be written by and if awarded, administered by WCCRC.

A large part of this application will be based on community interest. Therefore, it is important that people interested in the program attend one of the two public meetings that will be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2012. The first meeting will be 1:30 PM, and the second will be at 5:30 PM. Both will be held at the Jefferson Town Hall on North Harpersfield Road. It will also be important that town residents write letters of support to accompany the application.

To be eligible for these grants, applicants must have an income at or below 80% of county median income for family size. A household of 1 person cannot gross more than $43,750. The maximum income allowed for a household of 2 is $50,000, for a family of three the maximum is $56,250 and for 4 the maximum income is $62,500. However, priority will be given to households that are at or below 60% of the Schoharie County median income who are over 60 years of age. Those incomes limits are: for one person $32,813, for two $37,500, for three $42,188 and $46,875 for four.

WCCRC is a Rural Preservation Company that serves Harpersfield, Kortright, Middletown, Roxbury, and Stamford in Delaware County; Ashland, Halcott, Hunter, Jewett, Lexington, and Prattsville in Greene County and Blenheim, Broome, Conesville, Fulton, Gilboa, Jefferson, and Summit in Schoharie County. States, Executive Director, Linda Stratigos, "The Community Development Housing Rehab Grant program benefits not only the eligible homeowners but the entire community by stabilizing local affordable housing. The CDBG programs have been incredibly successful in our service area and we urge interested Jefferson homeowners and community members to attend these meetings so they can learn about this specific application and the other programs that are offered through the Office of Community Renewal."

Anyone interested in applying for rehabilitation grant funds must attend one of the public information meetings to be held at Jefferson Town Hall on North Harpersfield Road on Wednesday, March 14thh at 1:30 or 5:30 PM.
