Teens in Foster Care Host Spaghetti Dinner April 25
04/13/2012 - Ford slogans have been around dating back to when Henry Ford marketed his first vehicle. Do you recall some of their slogans? Ford – Feel the Difference; Ford- Bold Moves; Built for the road ahead; Ford Designed for living, Ford- Engineered for Life and the latest one is; Built Ford Tough. As these slogans suggest they help the consumer to strongly consider purchasing their goods.
When considering the Adoption Option where a person or couples decide to adopt a child or children, each of these slogans could be used if we replace the word Ford with the word Adoption. Adoption families are a unique class and there is an ongoing need for more adoptive families. Using the Ford slogans with a minor modification using the word adoption, one can see the similarities. Adoption- Feel the Difference; Adoption- Bold Moves; Adoption built for the road ahead; Adoption designed for living, engineered for life and Built Adoption Tough. Wow! These make for a great analogy!
The Delaware Co Dept of Social Services are raffling off tickets (cost $5 per ticket) for an autographed guitar signed by Country singer Rodney Atkins. Rodney Atkins was last year's headline show at the Delaware County Fair. He contacted the Department after the fair and wanted to help the Delaware County Dept. of Social Services raise funds to heighten awareness of adoption. The Dept was thrilled with his gesture and quickly came up with a variety of things to help generate interest and to promote the Adoption Option. Rodney recorded a personalized radio piece which you have heard or may hear on Central New York Radio Group. The guitar drawing will be held on the last day of the 2012 Delaware County Fair. Anyone who is interested in purchasing tickets may do so by contacting the Del. Co. Dept of Social Services in Delhi and or by stopping by the booth at the 2012 Delaware County Fair.
Teens in Foster Care who are enrolled in the Independent Living Skills program are hosting a "Spaghetti Supper" on April 25, from 4:30 till 7 p.m. at the Delhi Fire Hall in Delhi. This activity is to enhance the skills necessary to help our youth become independent within the community. Youth have participated in all planning and organization of this function. Poster for advertising, ticket sales, money management, preparing and serving the meal and clean up are all skills that help assist them in learning many important life skills. We hope to have a great turn out to join in this fun and exciting gathering. By attending this event it will show your support to these youth in care who are learning what hard work and dedication are all about. A secondary bonus to holding this event, the proceeds will also help to raise funds for the Delaware County Adoption Day Celebration funds which strongly support the Adoption Option. Tickets for the raffle will be available and the guitar will be on display for anyone who would like to view it.
