End-of-Life Ethics

04/20/2012 - The Hospice Foundations of America's 2012 Living With Grief® program, End-of-Life Ethics, will be presented on Wednesday, May 9 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Cornell Cooperative Extension of Sullivan County by the Caregiver Resource Center.

Moderated by Lynn Sherr, former ABC News' 20/20 correspondent will examine, using a case study approach, the ethical issues and dilemmas that emerge at the end-of-life, the principles of ethical decision-making and the effects of these decisions on staff and families.

The topics covered during the program include: artificial nutrition and hydration, ethical decision-making, principles of bio-medical ethics, surrogate decision-making, palliative sedation, children and adolescent patients, cultural values and beliefs, and grief-reactions of families and care providers.

To register, or for more information, contact Cindy at Cornell Cooperative Extension at (845) 292-5250 or via email at cn55@cornell.edu . Continuing education (CE) credits are available online for nurses, social workers, counselors, clergy and more until April 19, 2013.
