04/20/2012 - Over the month of February, the students of Walton's Townsend Elementary School once again collected pennies to benefit Delaware Valley Hospital's Enhance DVH Fund. This year during the "Pennies From Heaven" event, they collected $1,908.26 or 1,076 pounds of pennies.
A friendly competition is held each year between the classrooms. This year Miss Jennis' fourth grade class won bringing in just 1 pound of pennies more than the second place winners, Miss Ammon's second grade which brought in 129 pounds! Mrs. Gates' UPK AM class, Mrs. Condon's kindergarten class, Miss Core's first grade, the third graders of Mrs. LeBarge's class, Mrs. Day's fourth grade, Miss Meisel's fifth grade students and finally Mr. DuMond's self contained special ed class all won for their grade levels.
Delaware Valley is extremely grateful to all the children, their teachers, the office and maintenance staff of Townsend School and the family and friends of the kids who helped make this one of the best events ever!
The staff of The National Bank of Delaware County also deserves many thanks as they graciously count all of the pennies the kids bring in.
The funds will be used to remodel the medical floor so that there are eventually seven private rooms for patients.
