Energy Audits Available to Delaware County Residents
06/15/2012 - As heating and utility costs increase and HEAP benefits decline, many Delaware County residents are faced with the challenge of how to stretch their energy dollars.
The New York Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) provides free energy audits through several income based programs. The home audits identify energy saving improvements, and can offer free to low cost programs to implement the work. In addition, NYSERDA offers a variety of grant and loan programs to make these improvements affordable. Benefits that may be provided through these programs include increased energy efficiency, improved health and safety, fewer drafts, consistent temperatures throughout rooms, better ventilation, humidity control and substantially lower utility bills.
The audits are free to homeowners with an income of less than $108,800 in Delaware County.
