AUTHOR JOHN VERDON TO SPEAK AT ANDES PUBLIC LIBRARY JUNE 28
06/15/2012 - There is plenty of praise from bestselling authors for John Verdon's first novel, "Think of a Number". John Lescroart writes "… eloquent, heartrending, deeply suspenseful on many levels, and relentlessly intelligent …" and Tess Gerritsen proclaims "Spectacular and mind-bending, […] the best thriller I've read in a long, long time. John Verdon's writing is so polished, so nuanced, it makes me envious that I didn't write this terrific novel."
With his second book, the acclaim continues as Lisa Scottoline says "Voice is the hallmark of a great writer, and I loved John Verdon's riveting 'Shut Your Eyes Tight' from page one, because I fell in love with his voice."
We here at the Andes Public Library agree wholeheartedly, so are thrilled to announce that this talented, world-renowned author will be with us Thursday, June 28, at 7 p.m. John will discuss how he started a new career after retiring to the Catskills over a decade ago, and maybe give us a sneak peak of his upcoming novel. Due out later this summer, "Let the Devil Sleep" is the next chapter in the saga of Dave Gurney, retired NYPD detective who, like Verdon himself, retired to the peaceful beauty of the mountains, but with very different results.
If you haven't yet had a chance to read Verdon's books, they are available at the Andes Public Library and through the Four County Interlibrary Loan system. With intriguing plot lines, painfully realistic relationships and exceptional prose all mingled with the flavor of the mountains we call our own, they are a must read.
