06/15/2012 - The Pine Hill Community Center launched Kid Stuff, a free new program for children ages 6-12 Saturday, March 3.
Every Saturday morning 10-noon, a different artist, writer, musician or environmental expert will conduct a workshop. PHCC is working with artists and craftspeople from The Catskill Mountain Artisans Guild and with writers from Writers in the Mountains to bring skilled professionals to lead the workshops. Plans for spring and summer include planting a community garden and exploring the natural resources in the Pine Hill area.
All children are welcome; no pre-registration is required, and there is no requirement that each child come to every class. Pine Hill Community Center Director, Ann Epner, says that this program is designed to interest and attract children from the whole Delaware/Ulster County area. "Every Saturday morning, there is the Coffee's Ready program at theCenter - so parents can socialize and enjoy coffee and baked goodies while their children are in the workshops, or they can drop the kids off and get their Sat. morning errands done," she says.
Funding for the program comes from The Ulster County Youth Bureau and a private foundation. All materials are included. For more information, call 845-254-5469.
