06/22/2012 - The Delaware Opportunities WIC Program announces additional outreach site dates beginning in June.
Outreach will be provided on a monthly basis at all sites. In addition, outreach will be provided in Sidney twice per month, on the fourth Tuesday and the following Thursday of each month. Hours of operation at the Sidney site on Thursdays will be from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Operating hours for all other sites are from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. The additional dates for 2012 are:
Hancock Town Hall (115 West Main Street), Sept. 18 and Dec. 18; Hobart Community Center (11 Cornell Avenue), Sept. 6, and Dec. 6; Deposit First United Methodist Church (107 Second Street), July 19 and Oct. 18; Sidney Civic Center (21 Liberty Street), June 28, July 26, Aug. 30, Sept. 27, Oct. 25, Nov. 29, Dec. 27.
WIC is a supplemental nutrition program that provides healthy food for pregnant, postpartum and breast-feeding women, infants and children up to five years of age. Healthy foods provided include infant formula, baby food (vegetables, fruit and meat), infant cereal, milk, tofu, soy beverage, cheese, eggs, cereal, juice, peanut butter, dried or canned beans, peas, lentils, fresh, frozen or canned vegetables and fruit, canned fish, bread, brown rice or tortillas.
Information and support on breast-feeding, food, diet, health, nutrition, as well as exercise, physical activity, and assistance in finding health care services is provided.
