COOPERATIVE EXTENSION'S FARMERS' MARKET SEASON OPENS

06/22/2012 - Cornell Cooperative Extension of Delaware County will be sponsoring three farmers' markets for the 2012 season in Sidney, Walton and Deposit. These markets have been established for the convenience of local residents and participants in the 2012 Farmers' Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) through WIC and Delaware County Office for the Aging. In addition to cash sales, WIC clients and income eligible senior citizens may redeem their farmers' market nutrition program coupons at these local markets.

The Sidney Farmer's Market will be held at the Video Entertainment parking lot, 89 Main Street. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Tuesday, July 3–Oct. 9.

Walton's market will be open on the second and fourth Friday of each month, July 13–Sept. 28. The market will be held at Robinson Bros. parking lot on the corner of Delaware and West Streets, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Two dates have been chosen for markets in Deposit: Thursdays, Aug. 16 and Sept. 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. These two markets will be held during the WIC clinic at the First United Methodist Church, 107 Second Street in Deposit.

This year we welcome back Jamaica Dream Farm and Brookside Market Gardens at the Sidney Market. Produce available at the market in Sidney include: beets, chard, herbs, kohlrabi, melons, onions, peppers, spinach, cabbage, beans, squash, tomatoes and other fresh vegetables and fruit.

Join Cooperative Extension at the holiday weekend opening of the Walton Market on July 3rd. Jamaica Dream Farm and Grandpa's Garlic will have the usual quality assortment of vegetables, and garlic.
