Rehearsed Readings of Five Modern Classics About Love

07/05/2012 - Franklin Stage Company announces a very special theatrical event. Over two weeks in July FSC presents ON LOVE: rehearsed readings of five plays about love. "We consider this a ten day festival, the plays all carefully selected, with a theme," says FSC Executive/Artistic Director Carmela Marner. "All the plays are 20th century classics and the series as a whole is in turns an elegant, magical, audacious and gutsy theatrical rumination upon love - how we talk about it, recognize it, seize it, lose it, and search again. Love is the enticing journey we all know and share but experience so differently as individuals," says Marner. There will be a rehearsed reading of a different play each night for five days, and then, the same plays five days in a row the next week.

Please note the schedule: Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf by Edward Albee on Wednesdays July 11th and 18th at 8; Design For Living by Noel Coward on Thursdays July 12th and 19th at 8; Don't Fool With Love by Alfred de Musset on Fridays July 13th and 20th at 8; The Real Thing by Tom Stoppard on Saturdays July 14th at 8 and 21st at 2; and The Night of the Iguana by Tennessee Williams on Sundays 15th & 22nd at 5. As always at FSC, admission is free and reservations are highly recommended.

For ON LOVE, FSC has assembled an exciting array of talent, a dynamic mix of faces both familiar and new to our audiences. "We've had a fascinating experience with rehearsed readings at FSC," says Peter Gaitens, an Artistic Associate of FSC and Literary Manager of the series. "Audiences are always delighted to discover what a powerfully intimate and fully theatrical experience a rehearsed reading can be." Marner adds, "At FSC, we are always seeking new ways to make stories compelling and relevant, to create and share with our audience an experience that is fresh and astonishing. This curated series is just such an opportunity. We hope audiences will want to come along for the ride."

This is the Franklin Stage Company's 16th season of Admission Free professional theatre.
